Yun-Tien Lee
Yun-Tien Lee is a Senior Data Scientist and Actuary with the Minneapolis office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 2018.
Experience
Yun-Tien has over 17 years of actuarial experience with a strong background in computer science, mathematics, predictive analytics, and financial risks. He joined Milliman in 2018, focusing on advanced actuarial models and predictive analytics applications.
Yun-Tien has developed several systems with various clients including fraud detection systems and recommendation systems. He also conducts various advanced research on topics such as synthetic data generation and performance benchmarking of different programming languages. More recently, Yun-Tien has been focused on developing and customizing Milliman Advanced Risk Adjusters™ (MARA™) models offered by the MyMARA™ model development service.
Yun-Tien has extensive experience in various modern programming languages. Specifically, he is involved with the development of Julia packages and provides education on its uses in the actuarial field. Besides this, he speaks at various industry meetings on related topics to help industry practitioners become better prepared to develop and effectively use advanced models.
Prior to joining the firm, Yun-Tien worked for various international firms overseas specializing in data analytics, including recommendation systems, fraud detection software and national health insurance analytics. In addition, he has professional experiences in risk analysis on variable annuities and various insurance products and financial budgeting and planning.
