Quantitative Impact Study 3 (QIS3) was undertaken in 2007 in order to aid the design of the Solvency II system. All European Insurance companies were invited to participate so that both Regulators and CEIOPS could understand how the proposed new system would affect companies’ balance sheets. Lessons learned from QIS3 helped form the final shape of Solvency II.
